Registry Data Guide
How To Understand This Data
This page explains how to read public registry data and state-provided records shown on the registry page. It is meant to help readers understand what certain labels mean and what they do not mean.
Before You Use It
- Status labels and risk labels come from official registry records, not from The Princeton Journal.
- Public registry data can change. Always confirm the latest information through the official Texas DPS registry.
- Registry inclusion is not the same thing as a real-time assessment of present danger or current conduct.
What “Verified” Means
“Verified” is an administrative status term from the official registry. In general, it indicates that the registering agency reported the record as verified for the relevant reporting cycle. It does not mean The Princeton Journal independently verified the record, and it should not be read as a guarantee that every detail is current at the exact moment a user views the page.
What “Reported Information Not Verified” Means
This label generally means information has been reported to the official registry, but local verification is not reflected as complete in the state-provided record. It does not automatically mean the record is false. It means the official registry is indicating an unverified administrative status.
What “Relocation” Means
“Relocation” is a status label from the official registry that can indicate a move-related or transition status. When that label appears, an address may be unavailable, changing, or no longer suitable to treat as a current residence. It should not be read as confirmation of a present address.
How Often Data Updates
Update timing depends on the official registry, the registering agency, statutory reporting intervals, and agency processing time. Some records may update after annual verification cycles, some after quarterly cycles, and some after a status change or administrative action. A page review date on this site may not match the precise time a registering agency updated the official registry.
Why Registry Inclusion Does Not Equal A Current Threat Level
Registry inclusion is a legal status. It is not a real-time statement about current conduct, immediate danger, or current intent. Risk labels shown on the page are part of the official record and should not be treated as a substitute for context, lawful public safety judgment, or the official registry itself.
Use Responsibly
This material is provided for public information and safety education. It must not be used for harassment, threats, intimidation, discrimination, or any other misuse. If you believe a public registry record is being displayed incorrectly on this site, use the contact page and include the SID, the name, and the specific issue.
